One Day Green Paralegal Volunteers Training- Organised at Bar Jhopri, Jagannathpur Slum

26th May, 2026| The Association for Parivartan of Nation (APNA) on the 25th May, successfully organised a “One Day Green Paralegal Volunteers Training” at Bar Jhopri area of Jagannathpur Slum. A total of 13 Green Paralegal Volunteers from the Jagannathpur slum participated in the training programme.

The main objective of the training was to legally empower talented women and youth living in slum communities and make them aware of their rights so that they can support needy families in their communities by helping them access legal aid, essential documents, and various government welfare schemes. The initiative also focuses on identifying vulnerable families and providing them with dedicated guidance and personal support.

During the programme, Project Coordinator Sapna Gupta highlighted that although the Central and State Governments run several welfare schemes for poor and marginalised communities, many deserving families fail to benefit due to lack of awareness and weak last-mile delivery. She explained that APNA works closely with each family according to their individual needs and supports them over a long period to ensure access to social security and welfare entitlements. The organisation aims to connect every family with at least four to five government welfare schemes.

Project Manager Mohammad Faizan informed the participants that after ensuring documentation support, families are further linked to education, livelihood, self-employment, and skill development schemes. Detailed information was shared about schemes such as PM Vishwakarma, PM SVANidhi, PMEGP, MUDRA, and various skill training programmes.

An important part of this model is the “Green Para Legal Volunteers (Green PLVs),” who are trained from within the community itself. These volunteers assist families in accessing welfare schemes, completing documentation processes, and resolving basic legal issues while acting as a strong bridge between the community and institutions.

The training session was conducted by APNA team members Ehtesham and Arsalan.

Special guest Lav Kumar, a Pragya Kendra operator from Sector 2, was present during the training and provided practical guidance on digital services and documentation procedures. Active community members including Rima Devi, Lalita Kumari, Ashok Pratap Singh, Sumit Herhanj, and Shaily Kumari, along with other residents, also attended the programme.

At the end of the programme, participants appreciated the initiative and stated that such training is highly beneficial in spreading awareness and ensuring that government schemes and legal support reach vulnerable and needy communities.
