New Step Towards Stronger Support Systems for Women in Jharkhand

28th September, 2026| Creating safer communities for women requires more than responding to cases after harm has occurred. A system that is accessible, coordinated and responsive to the realities women face is a system that most often doesn’t fail them. On 21 September 2026, APNA took an important step in that direction by signing a 3 year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand Women Development Society (JWDS), Department of Women and Child Development & Social Security, Government of Jharkhand.

Through this partnership we aim to strengthen support systems for women survivors across the state by bringing together institutional support, research, capacity building and community-level outreach.

From Policy to Practice

The collaboration shall focus on several interconnected areas of work. These include policy support and research, capacity building of government officials and on-ground outreach to strengthen the way support reaches women who need it.

An important part of the partnership will also be the development of digital tools. These systems are intended to help manage and track cases more effectively by supporting better coordination and follow-up across the support system.. For women survivors, travelling across different institutions and support services is often complicated. A stronger support ecosystem requires coordination between government institutions, frontline workers, civil society organisations and communities.

Looking Ahead

The MoU marks the beginning of a collaboration, wherein its larger significance lies in the systems it seeks to strengthen. Through research, capacity building, policy support, outreach and digital innovation, APNA and JWDS will work towards creating support mechanisms that are more coordinated and responsive to the needs of women survivors. We are grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to contribute to building safer, more responsive systems for women across Jharkhand.
