On 28 Jan 2025, APNA held an RTE workshop in Bokaro to assist low-income families. Around fifty parents learned about the 25% reservation, eligibility, and documents. The session boosted their confidence, with a pledge to spread awareness—strengthening APNA’s mission for equitable education.
Capacity Building Workshop
On 28 January 2025, APNA organised a district-level capacity-building workshop in Bokaro on the theme- "Empowering Communities: Navigating Rights-based Legislation and Entitlements". The purpose was to equip families from low-income and marginalised backgrounds with a deeper understanding of their entitlements under rights-based legislation, particularly the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. The workshop was held ahead of the upcoming RTE admission camps, aiming to ensure that every eligible child could access quality education without bureaucratic barriers.
The interactive session brought together around 50 parents and guardians, many engaging with the RTE framework for the first time. Facilitators broke down key provisions of the Act- including the 25% reservation in private unaided schools- and explained eligibility criteria, required documentation, and application timelines in simple, accessible terms.
“This session gave me the confidence to apply for my daughter’s school admission. Earlier, I didn’t even know such a law existed for families like ours,” shared Renuka Devi, a participant from Chas block. Another attendee and community leader, Chotu Ji, added, “The team explained everything so clearly- we now know our rights and how to claim them.”

APNA team member, Shubham Raj, reflected on the workshop’s impact: "Empowerment begins with information. When parents understand the law, they become active advocates for their children’s future." The workshop concluded with a collective pledge to support wider community awareness ahead of the RTE admission drive. This initiative reaffirmed APNA’s commitment to bridging knowledge gaps, promoting equitable access to education, and strengthening legal literacy at the grassroots level.
